# Local rank tracking

## What Madison tracks

You don't need to pick keywords. Madison automatically tracks your **local ranking** for two key search terms per location: a broad term for your type of business, and your primary Google category.

## Your ranking report

* **Current ranking**: your average local position right now
* **Trend**: whether you're moving up or down
* **History**: your position over roughly the past year

Rankings update automatically, so there's nothing to run. You'll also find this in [Reports](/reports/overview.md).
